The folk-rock duo Chasing Summer from Nashville, TN is on an epic journey to bring art and music to kids around the world through their new project called “Let The Sun Shine In”.
Using creative workshops for music, songwriting and recording, as well as expressive painting and mixed media art, Tammy Rochelle and Joseph Bamber (founders of the duo Chasing Summer) are inspiring kids to create, to express, to grow and to heal. From the USA to Nicaragua to Germany to Israel, and soon to Ghana, Africa, the “Let The Sun Shine In” project collaborates with homes that help children who have been through trauma, who are at risk of abuse, or who are mentally or physically handicapped.
These seasoned musicians/songwriters with over 15 years of music experience and 7 albums teamed up with some of Nashville’s finest musicians, including bass player David LaBruyere, (John Mayer / Dave Barnes), Chris Rodriguez on guitars (Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson), Tommy Harden on drums (Reba McIntyre), Kyle Aaron on mandolin, fiddle, banjo, ukulele (Michael W. Smith, Mercy Child), Michael Hicks on keys (Keb Mo) to record 8 original songs for kids around the world to sing on in the music workshops.
For some of these kids this is the beginning of them having tools to work through trauma, loss, identity, past abuse and depression. Tammy and Joseph hope to bring the same freedom and creativity that they’ve found in their own lives.
